The main obstacle facing the neophyte in online business is marketing. So many options are available but just doesn't know how to make them work. There are free and paid advertising. Surely, some of these would work but the problem is how to find them.

Felics, I agree, there are indeed many ways to market your business online. It's hard to find some that work, and especially hard to actually utilize them in a way that is successful.

It is probably best to begin with free advertising venues, even if you have to use those sites that are huge traffic exchanges. They aren't the best but they are a way to get started.

I think that is my biggest problem, I'm a bit lost when it comes to internet marketing. I've got clients, but not enough and simple word of mouth advertising doesn't seem to be cutting it. I don't really know where else to turn though.

I've tried of few of the free venues, and haven't really noticed any change in traffic. Maybe I haven't given it enough time, what would be a reasonable amount of time before I should start noticing a difference.
