I was wondering if others here do absolutely all of their home business work out of a designated office, or if the work spills out into other areas like using a laptop on a coffee table, too?

For me, when I'm freelancing, I'd be all over the place. You'd find me in the kitchen, or sitting with my laptop while doing the laundry, I think that's the beauty of working from home, it gives the element of flexibility.

It totally depends on the job I'm doing. Some requires some research, then I put everything I need on the dinig room table to have more space, specially when there is translation to be done. Otherwise, I keep on my desk. My apartment is not too big and it is better that way.

As I don't have a laptop, I sit at our ancient metal schoolteacher's desk and tap away in what started out as my husband's music room but has evolved into a business hub for the both of us. I always have my internet radio station on and (hopefully) a mug full of steaming hot tea (I am upstairs so running up and downstairs to the kitchen comprises my daily exercise alot of the time!) When I encounter writer's block I look at my husband's picture of Abraham Lincoln on the wall (hubby is a Lincolnfreak, if there is such a word)and ask for inspiration...!

I'm the kind of person who sticks to one spot, otherwise I won't be able to get into the "working mood". I've emptied a room in our basement, and it's now my office. I made sure for it to be well ventilated and yet not cold, works just fine for me. I find working in different spots to be very distracting, and tempting. (can't work with the TV next to me)
