Well, I'm in a bit more than my underwear, it's a bit cold today...That advice about zoning is spot on. I don't think that zoning is thought about in the building of a business that doesn't have to do with alot of vehicles or the necessity to have a warehouse. Even if you do think of it and take it into account, especially in a small town, zoning can be changed and then you can be in dire trouble. A friend of ours had his own studio/music store in the same place for nearly twenty years, and all of a sudden he was given a few months to relocate. He had run his business out of his home (on rented land)and was appalled to find out what he would have to spend on a storefront. He wound up closing his business.

I think the zoning point that you made is just one of the reasons that an online business can be more attractive than a more conventional bricks and mortar type of business.

Also, someone could probably relocate their residence without it affecting an online venture at all.
